Hohensalzburg Fortress is enthroned on the Festungsberg, high above the rooftops of the Baroque historical district. The biggest fully preserved castle in Central Europe, this emblem of Salzburg offers a 360-degree view of the city and its surroundings. To visit you have to do a lot of walking and climbing. The fortress is huge, and I was struck by the large iron doors, not something you see in modern architecture. I also find interesting the texture of the old rock walls creating wonderful patterns and shadows.
